Academy of Interactive Entertainment, Australia's premier educator for games, film and 3D industries, today announced that scholarships would be are available for students applying for the July 2007 mid-year intakes of the Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film and the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Games Programming).
A total of $6000 of scholarships is available for applicants for either course. Applications for both scholarships are open now, and all applicants for the mid-2007 courses are encouraged to apply.
"These scholarship opportunities will provide financial assistance to talented students to get into a career in Game Development, Film, TV and 3D Animation industries " says AIE Canberra Head of School, Mr Neil Boyd.
In the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Game Programming) students learn the fundamentals of game programming. Subjects such as C++ essentials, data structures, algorithms, binary arithmetic, vectors, trigonometry, logical and bitwise operations, managing C++ structures, class design, memory management, OO design, pointers, pre-processor basics and version control using professional industry level software.
In the Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film students are introduced to 3D Studio Max and the skills required to produce industry-standard 3D modelling and basic animations. During the course students work through the elements of digital art essential to the games, film, television, design and other 3D industries including modelling, environment design, texturing, lighting, particle systems and FX and character animation.
In both courses, industry experienced teachers guides students through a series of tutorials, exercises, assignments and organise regular industry guest lectures. Both these courses lead on to the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development but with different majors- either Games Art or Software Development. Animation students can also choose to pursue a career in 3D animation for Film and TV though the Diploma of Screen.
Both the Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film and the Certificate IV in Information Technology are offered full time beginning in July and running through until December. For more information check out www.aie.edu.au.
