IGN Visits Krome Studios

The Aussie team over at IGN headed to Brisbane for their 'Developer Day' feature, to visit Krome Studios' place of conception and their primary studio. The team toured the vast building, escorted for a majority of the tour by Krome’s CEO, Robert Walsh. The tour visited many of the departments; from the art department, to tech support, to the ‘Hellboy Floor’ – where the team of sixty works valiantly on creating Krome’s upcoming title – to the sound department, and to the Tools and Technology team; the guys that code the game engines, among other things. The team got to have a look into the workings of Krome, and it definitely looks like it’s a fun place to have a job. I quote from IGN AU’s feature article:

Each of the main office areas in the building houses a team. Each team is devoted to a single game title, and is comprised of designers, programmers and artists. In the centre of the room sit the Producer and Game Designer, both equipped with megaphones and modified Nerf guns, helping to keep the team "motivated".

Krome Studios is a highly successful Australian games developer, responsible for titles such as the highly regarded The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. It has three studios in Australia; one in Brisbane, one in Adelaide, and with the recent acquisition of Atari’s Melbourne House, Krome has their third studio in Melbourne.
