When Microsoft tweeted that new game releases for the Xbox Live Arcade's Game Room was delayed "until further notice", it caused some to ponder if it was due to the layoffs reported at Krome Studios just a short time prior. However, a new list of games were announced and released for the Game Room just last week, and it looks like things are well back in order.
Helping the case is the new interview at Gamasutra in which Krome Studios Lead Designer, Dan Hooley, and Lead Arcade Board Technician, Barry Jones, discuss many aspects of Game Room, from the process of obtaining the obscure ROM files of retro games from decades past, the technical challenges of emulating each ROM, and the future plans for Game Room. DH: Right now the plan is 7 games a week for the next 3 years. This is potentially a scalable figure for the future, but the overall intention is to constantly release new titles on a regular basis – there is certainly the back catalogue of content available to do this, I personally want to emulate every single game we can and I know Microsoft feel the same way!
