Congratulations must go to Brawsome and Play-bit Entertainment on their success of securing the latest round of funding from Film Victoria's Game Investment Program. Andrew Goulding from Brawsome and Chris Watts from Play-bit are not only top blokes but are both extremely dedicated and hard working guys who really are passionate about making games. Not only do they contribute back to the community through participation in conferences like Freeplay, they're very approachable guys who are more than happy to chat about their work and their experiences as an indie games developer.
Andrew has revealed that Brawsome will be beginning a new project in February next month with fellow games developer, Ben Kosmina, on a comedy puzzle adventure called Urban Wolf. Both Andrew and Ben will be contributing their own funds in addition to Film Victoria's grant to complete this project. The team will be using Unity as their game engine of choice which would mean that their plans for a simultaneous release for the PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad will be a breeze. It's coming out later this year.
There's no doubt that social games are a hot area of games development, and Play-bit entertainment have made inroads to social gaming with MineQuest on Facebook, and with the new funding, they're choosing Facebook again as the target platform for their new project. As Minequest was developed with Unity, it's reasonable to say that they'll be using it again for the new game.
(Chris) I'll be working hard alongside other talented developers to bring you dudes a new, fun to play game for Facebook!
