Anna and Yug from AustralianGamer has toured the studio of Firemint, providing a report and pictures of the visit at their website. They've also managed an interview with Firemint CEO, Rob Murray, Kynan Woodman (Development Director), and Ronald Haupt (Senior Producer).
The interview covers Firemint's origins, from the rather humble beginnings at an apartment next to Rob's place, cold approaching publishers with demo in hand at E3, right to the leading studio for mobile gaming that they are now. The guys also discuss some of the licenses they've worked on, a tiny bit on Project Joystick, as well as the mobile gaming platform in general too. It's a great read, so head on over to Australian Gamer for the full feature!
Rob: Strategy-wise we’re definitely going to maintain leadership in mobiles. It’d be crazy not to do that. Vision-wise we don’t see ourselves as a platform based studio, we see ourselves as a games studio. Possibly as there is more and more accessible entertainment suitable for mobiles, suitable for PC, Wii, DS, whatever. Ultimately we’re focussing on how we design games, that’s the direction we’re moving in.
