GameDaily has a great great article up on Krome Studios CEO, Robert Walsh. It begins with Robert's rather accidental start in the local game industry, the frustrations of the early days, right to the considerable success story that Krome Studios has become.
It's a fascinating insight into Krome Studios, where the emphasis is on the importance of keeping IP (they are able to pursue the Ty, the Tasmanian Tiger branding into animated cartoons and merchandise), and avoiding being pidgeon holed by previous titles. Robert also raises the issues on the challenges that other independant game developers will face as the industry progresses...
"The barrier to entry now is so much higher. Ten years ago you could walk in with a pretty cool game idea and get somebody to invest in you, fund you and get you to the shelf. These days you have to walk in with a full-blown prototype, one complete level and everything finished and polished to blow people away. That's a very expensive exercise."
It's a great read, so click on the following link and have a look!
