Kotaku Australia has conducted an interview with GDAA president and Tantalus CEO Tom Crago. In it, Crago discusses a number of topics including tax concessions and games classification, as well as the accomplishments of the GDAA over the last 12 months, and its priorities moving forward.
Here's a snippet:
Kotaku AU: Are there any issues facing the games industry in Australia at present that you feel haven't received enough attention, such as employment opportunities, skill demand, etc?
Tom Crago: The skills shortage is the big one. All the major companies are looking for people, and we're just not finding enough of them in Australia. I'm really hoping that will change. The strong Australian dollar is also a curse for us, as an entirely export-focussed industry. Of course, a near total lack of support from the Federal Government is a factor, but we're doing what we can to address that.
