Endgame Studios and Slidatron

Company

Like many other Australian game developers, Endgame Studios are heading off to the Game Developers' Conference to show off their work and score some deals. Endgame are showcasing Slidatron: Dual Space, an innovative platformer title for the Nintendo DS platform. Cubed3 has an article on Endgame Studios which mentions how they got funding for their game, and how they're having trouble finding talented staff!

It's a problem that a lot of local developers are facing; at the moment it's really tough to find people. There are a lot of workers now coming to Australia but it's still a big struggle finding people to fill the roles."

For the entire article, head on over to Cubed3...

The problem is not the lack of skilled, dedicated people; the problem is the 3 years minimum industry experience + shipped games required to be able to get work in the industry.

I think the problem is moronic management, not knowing who they should be hiring and why... but that is just my opinion.

Either that or they have alienated the rest so that they don't want to work in the industry anymore.

Depends on the company, lots of the bigger company tends to hire junior staff. You just want a good mix, no point having too many juniors, no point having too many seniors. That way you teaching the juniors the tricks of the trade, while not bogging down the seniors in doing nothing else but teaching the tricks of the trade.

I have come across two different oppositions whilst looking for a job.

One is the Three years min. development/ two titles or more idea... and the overall lack of Junior positions.
    Chick came before egg?

The other is a contradiction. Even though good 3D perception is genrally well DEVELOPED (as in, you start doing stuff in your garage then whenever you get free time, there is no real Course at Uni or tafe that can give you talent), a large portion of environmental artist jobs/3d artist jobs are asking for a course to be complete.

I agree with both Jonelith Irenicus and the first Anonymous.

Is there any recognition with the Mod community???
