The very honourable Yug has posted in the forum about an article he researched and compiled called "The Top Ten Aussie Made Games"...
"Basically, this list is to bring to light some of the more noteworthy games that have been created locally and were commercially and critically successful. It's also to try to let people know where credit is due, and that there is alot of talent in the Australian Games Industry."
On a related note, Sumea had a vote a while back on the greatest Australian made game of all time, which you can check out here. Yug and I are currently having a little chat on the Beam software in the forum, and if you have more of a clue on Beam's history, you're more than welcomed to chime in with some of that knowledge :)
Anyway, check out Yug's list at the Australian Gamer website!
Honourable? Sweet :)
what about heroes???
what about freedom force?
Heroes of the Pacific was on the 'Honorable Mentions' list ... Freedom Force, I really wanted to include that, but I was already pushing the Top '10' list by having an extra 5 honorable mentions ... I wanted to especially try to have the top 10 games from different development houses, so i could include a seperate write up on each of them. In that respect, Tribes Vengance got the vote of the public (or at least everyone I talked too and from research on the web) for the Top 10 list.
Ha, I knew people were going to chime in with games you've missed out :) It only goes to show that there really is a big crop of quality home grown titles to come from Australia.
My personal choice for the number #1 spot would have to be The Way of the Exploding Fist. C'mon, that game was totally original, hugely popular, and started a genre, spawning tonnes of clones. :D
man, freedom force was heaps better than tribes vengeange =p
