What’s the job? 

Join Torrens University as a Lecturer in Games and Software Development (internally known as a Learning Facilitator) within the Design and Creative Technology Faculty. This academic role encompasses teaching, research, and scholarship at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As part of our growth initiative in information technology and cybersecurity, you'll contribute to innovative curriculum development and play a pivotal role in preparing students for success in emerging technology fields. Ideal candidates will have a strong IT background and a passion for teaching and research that intersects with creative disciplines such as design, digital media, and entertainment. 

The candidate preferably is PhD qualified and have an emerging research track record demonstrated through high-quality, peer-reviewed publications, creative outputs, research grants and/or research projects in collaboration with industry.

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Ultimo campus (Sydney). Since courses will be delivered both online and face-to-face, the role will offer flexible working arrangements. This lecturer will deliver and/or coordinate subjects in the technology suite of courses (refer to https://www.torrens.edu.au/courses/technology for more information). 

Who you are: 

To be successful in the Learning Facilitator - Games and Software Engineering position you will love engaging with students and working in a team. In addition, you will have: 

  • Demonstrated experience in higher education in the field of Games and Software Engineering 
  • Expertise in the following will be highly regarded: C#, Open GL/Web GL/graphics programming, discrete math and analytic geometry, Unity/Unreal Engine   
  • Previous experience teaching 
  • Good industry connections and a demonstration of integrating industry practice into a learning environment.  
  • Postgraduate qualifications (preferably a PhD) related to Games or Software Engineering. 
  • Preferably a demonstrated track record of high-quality research outcomes through traditional publications, conferences and non-traditional research outcomes. 
  • Preferably evidence of research that is applicable to industry or in collaboration with industry partners. 
  • Preferably a Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning
