The Junior Game Designer will be primarily responsible for coordinating, facilitating and documenting the game design process for use in Trainz and related products by acting in a creative, editorial and administrative capacity with regards to design documents and peripheral materials.

Responsibilities

Initiate, maintain and distribute design document(s).
Work with technical staff to ensure feasibility of design.
Create design document(s) in consultation with the project director, which are logically formulated and useful to technical, creative and marketing staff.
Develop designs in consultation with the project director, which comply with brief but add depth and imagination.
Create designs in consultation with the project director, which are feasible in both technical and economic terms.
Ensure the inclusion of all relevant staff in the design process.
Resolve contentious issues and act as moderator between disagreeing parties.
Meet deadlines.
Maintain a strong direction throughout the design of the product.
Provide Artists with specifications for modules and then review on a regular basis, giving adequate direction to ensure Artists can accurately complete their tasks.
Provide Programmers with specifications for modules and then review on a regular basis, giving adequate direction to ensure Programmers can accurately complete their tasks.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications/Education

A high degree of familiarity with, and an active interest in, computer games and electronic entertainment products of all genres and in particular simulation products.
A mind disposed towards creative but practical ideas required. Ability to work both in a team and autonomously, often in demanding and stressful situations.
A good level of computer literacy required. Demonstrated ability to initiate, maintain and distribute design documents.
Ability to work within time and budgetary constraints required.
An excellent knowledge of trains and/or real world experience with the operations of trains or train systems (for example signaling) is highly advantageous.
Knowledge of C++ would be advantageous but not necessary.
Knowledge of Auran Jet would be advantageous but not necessary.
Knowledge of 3D Studio Max would be advantageous but not necessary.
Knowledge of all versions of Trainz would be advantageous and in particular knowledge of TRS2004 is considered essential.
Language Skills

Excellent English written and oral communication skills required.
Location

The position will be at Auran?s head office in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Auran will consider applications from anywhere in the world and successful international applicants will be provided with funds to cover eligible relocation expenses. Auran will organize work permits as required and international applicants may be eligible to apply for Australian residency.

Period of Tenure

The position is for a minimum of two years.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will be primarily responsible for providing Quality Assurance on the Trainz product line.

Responsibilities

Regular quality assurance testing on Trainz.
Provide bug reports and bug feedback to the Trainz programmers.
Provide performance results on Trainz.
Report performance results and bug reports in a clear understandable form.
Provide assistance on Trainz forums.
Find, reproduce and report bugs in Trainz.
Ensure an excellent quality level in Trainz and its related products.

Tertiary education e.g. TAFE Certificate in I.T required.
University education with a graduate level degree desired.
Experience in the I.T. industry desired.
