  • Austrian grenadier- normal mapping (part 2)

    Wednesday, 18 February 2009 - 6:25pm

Back to low poly Austrian grenadier project. Here’s how it looks with normal maps. Now it would be time to add hand painted bump mapping for smaller details. It’s kinda funny- I’ve never really been into history of this particular period, not even when I was still considering myself “a historian” but uniforms from that era are so dashing and attractive for game dev that I just can’t let them be...

  • "The game"- final entry

    Tuesday, 3 February 2009 - 10:16am

It's been rather hectic but in the end I've managed to get things ALMOST right. Surely it requires a post touch up since what you can see here is almost raw Blender rendering (and with materials barely touched to make things worse) but considering fact it's been done in so called "spare time" (should be called "stolen time") and under heavy deadlines I think it came up acceptable. Not that I am...

  • Blender contest- "The game"

    Tuesday, 25 November 2008 - 7:44am

It's been a moment. Once again I got myself into contest (can't help it- competing is something I can't really live without), this time it's polish blender community portal held contest with "the game" being a title. As long as picture is even remotely related to the game- it can enter. Since it's being made for fun I've decided to go as kitschy as only possible and based concept on life vs. de...

  • Austrian grenadier- normal mapping

    Wednesday, 10 September 2008 - 1:28pm

It goes rather slowly but- hey, no rush, I am doing it for pleasure (at least this time). Having UV mapping in place I can now make high res version for normal mapping. I've divided character to three maps (flesh, cloth and shiny bits) to make things easier later on, when entire thing will get into engine and now I am going to try combining sculpting with bump map and baking results to normal /...

  • Austrian grenadier (napoleonic wars)

    Monday, 25 August 2008 - 10:41am

I am finally getting out of team management (which I really- really hate) back into REAL 3d jobs... sure, it will take some time to tune up my daily schedule but boy I am glad to finally get there. Anyway- here’s a little piece I did today “just for fun”- a low poly model of Austrian grenadier from napoleonic times. Its nothing really big- just one day “quickie”: 3037 polys (I guess I will make...

  • Blender sculpt test

    Friday, 8 August 2008 - 12:06am

I’ve recently discovered new prototyping service site- Shapeways (not sure about posting links here so in case you want to find them- just google for company name). Since they do support Blender (actually it’s a tool preferred and promoted by them) I've decided to give it a go and do some high poly “bust”. A rare chance of working with sculpt tools- working with levels I do not really use them...

  • Greetings (Ford 1930 model)

    Saturday, 2 August 2008 - 10:48am

Hello to all of you guys. I am not in area (not yet should I say) but I wold certainly love to move there- that's why I joined community in first place. Honestly- it was a contest that caught my eye but since its restricted to people that are already in there I will just hang around, trying to show some of the stuff I am working on.

    Here's a little, 4 days gig I did recently. Ford 1930...
