Tthanks to CombatWombat for making a forum post on this! The Age reports that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been refused classification as a result of an investigation by the OFLC on the "Hot Coffee" mod...
"The OFLC said it found that the content unlocked by the "hot coffee" mod could not be accommodated under the MA15+ classification .The game cannot now be legally sold, hired, advertised or exhibited in Australia.
"Businesses that sell or hire computer games should remove existing stocks of this game from their shelves immediately," said OFLC director Des Clark.
You can download the press release from the OFLC here, and The Age article at the following link...
Well, fuck you OFLC, I already bought it. Infact, i'm gonna give it to anyone i know who asks me.
The Australian goverment continues to takeaway our freedom, WHY the hell do you all put up with it? YOU are the ones who ellect the goverment, they are suppose to do what YOU want them to. They are you're employes. GET OFF YOUR ASS AUSTRALIA!!
I'm not sure, but I don't think the government has any say in the decisions the OFLC makes (although that could be the ESRB). And a government isn't there to do what WE want. No one knows what they want, most people out there are idiots who can't agree to anything more than to lower taxes. If we had a say in every decision that had to be made, this country would be totally fucked.
The mod doesn't come with the game therefore it shouldn't be banned
If people download that mod its there right to cause they own that game and can do whatever they want with it
It's been talked about before about OFLC being a bunch out of touch morons who are depriving australians of diversity. bloody liberal baby boomers grrrrrr
Folks, if you want the system to change, you have to use systems processes. Construct a logical non-expletive laden argument and send it to your local federal member. Thats how you change things.
Do you guys think the classifications could change when the free trade agreement between Aus and the US takes effect. The amricans have a A018 classification while australia only has ma15+.
Do you know what the real problem is?
The SA attorney general, because of him we have no R rating.
He was the only attorney general that opposed it. Next year is an election in SA,
So hopefully he will get voted out. If not, we'll have to convince him to change his mind.
As a South Australia i have written MANY letters to him. I have gotten illiogical & insulting responses.
The sex scene in SA DOES come with the game, it was programmed in there by R*.
You can access it on PC with a modded main.scm file & for the console versions you need to use Action replay max codes to path you're save game data.
We do need an R rating but antill Australians get off there asses & start writing letters nothing will change. www.refused-classification.com has all the info you need.
START WRITING LETTERS AUSTRALIA!!!!!
can u give it 2 me??
plz i really want it
we do not need a R rating otherwise kids who r like between 18 or lower might want it
The problem is games are still percieved as kids entertainment, and our rating system reflects this. Does government think that there are no gamers over 18, or they would have a rating for such a demographic wouldn't they? Like wise the highest rating is 15+, therefore oldest age of a gamers is 15 to 17. Well, what if i don't what to be playing a 15 year olds games?
That is the impression the rating system gives me. I'm sure the government is aware that the average age ofa gamer is much greater than 15-17, it's unfortunate that their rating system dosn't allow for this.
whom ever gots it for XBOX...Please Send it to RoachMan@peoplepc.com
bring back gta to australia
GTA SA has been reclassified MA15+ without the hotcoffee scenes;
http://www.oflc.gov.au/content.html?n=44&p=34&sTitle=grand+theft+auto&r…
The reason there is no R rating is because the SA attorney general is scared R rated games would get into the hands of braindead little brats. Belive me, i wrote him a few emails & he said so in his responses. Obviously he's a moron.....
Why is GTA SA any different to a movie. We still have R18+ rated movies, why cant we have an R18+ Video Game?
