Aussie Steam users get low-violence Borderlands by accident

Publisher 2K Games have mistakenly provided the wrong version for Australian gamers who have pre-ordered online for the futuristic RPG / shooter, Borderlands, via the Steam network.

Joystiq.com reports that it seems even distributors are becoming confused with what is acceptable for our classification system, with 2K Games pushing through a low-level violence version of Borderlands for Australian customers, despite the game receiving proper classification from the OFLC in its original state.

It looks like if you have preloaded Borderlands already via Steam, the solution is to delete the entire 7 gigabyte download. From 2K Games...

"We'd like to confirm that the Australian version of Borderlands is not censored in any way. This applies to all platforms and distribution methods, including Steam. Because of an internal mix-up an incorrect version of the game was available to preload on Steam for a brief period of time. This version has since been replaced. We're asking everybody who has downloaded the Australian version of Borderlands previously to delete the local content and re-download the game to ensure that they have the proper files.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."
