BigWorld Games Scholarship – Applications now open

BigWorld has announced they will provide 3 scholarships valued at $9,000 in total for outstanding Games Programming students at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment [ AIE ]. Applications for the BigWorld Scholarships are now officially open. AIE Sydney is offering 1 scholarship available to 2009 first year students and AIE Canberra is offering 2 scholarships available to 2009 second year students. Winners of the BigWorld scholarships will be selected at the start of February when students commence their studies in Sydney and Canberra.

"This is the second year running that BigWorld have sponsored the AIE Programming Scholarships and Game Design Award" said John De Margheriti, CEO of Big World. "Without these scholarships potential students may miss out on their dream career and our industry would miss out on recruiting the additional talent it craves. We were so impressed with last year's winners that we offered one of them a contract position with our sister company- Micro Forté Studios"

The scholarships will subsidise the winners' tuition for the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development at AIE- recognised as the most industry focused games course in Australia.

Students wanting to apply for the BigWorld Scholarship are encouraged to visit the AIE website at http://www.aie.edu.au/info/scholarships.php where they can download an application form. BigWorld provides a mature middleware platform for developers of Massively Multiplayer Online Games that is fast becoming the industry standard.

Would be great if Melbourne was also able to apply. Don't know why only two of the three campuses are elegible.
