Senior Engine/Graphics Coder, 2K Australia

Reports to: Technical Director/Producer
No. of direct reports: Nil
Location: Canberra, Australia
Tenure: Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • working with artists and designers to design and implement game-specific visual effects
  • extending our existing HLSL-based HDR renderer to support new rendering capabilities
  • developing and extending core engine file, memory, and data management subsystems
  • implementing console-specific features
  • optimizing and parallelizing engine code
  • developing tools to support the asset-creation pipeline

Required Experience and Skills:

  • in-depth knowledge of modern 3D graphics techniques
  • demonstrably strong background in mathematics
  • extensive experience working on low-level engine subsystems
  • must have at least one shipped game title on resume (note: this requirement may be waived for those with experience shipping related software products)
  • excellent understanding of C/C++ and OO design principles
  • excellent communication skills and interest in working with our game developers in a cooperative team environment
  • commitment to code quality, documentation and sound testing procedures
  • interest in game development and game technology

Additional Experience and Skills (highly desired):

  • experience developing for current- or next-generation game consoles (PS3, XBox 360)
  • experience in high-end visual effects for film or television
  • experience working with "first-person shooter" technologies a bonus, particularly Unreal technology
  • training in the visual arts
