GCAP 2018’s theme, The Walls We’ve Built Ourselves, looks to the future of the Australian game development sector, its successes and failures, over the past seven years and the sectors positioning in a changing global market. We’ve built our walls to understand our own boundaries, to provide protection while we hone our craft and from that place produce content enjoyed by the world. In contrast, walls can also constrain innovation, discourage creative risk, and blind us to what’s happening on the other side. But walls are not permanent. They can be moved or torn down. That is what we want to explore in GCAP 2018.
