BigWorld Technology Suite Chosen for Stargate Worlds MMORPG

Hi Guys,

I wanted to make sure that you got hold of this press release (below) that talks about BigWorld being picked by Cheyenne (and I guess by extension, MGM) as the technology underlying the new Stargate Worlds MMO.

I'm especially excited about it because Joe Ybarra, Conan Brink and the rest of the team are incredibly experienced (this is Joe's 7th MMO and I've loved most of his games all of the way back to Bard's Tale II) but it also looks like they are going to be using our tech in a couple of really interesting ways, such as perhaps allowing the players to build massive starships! During the launch event, when asked about guilds, Joe said "If you want to build a Goa'uld mothership [for example] ... it may require the efforts of several guilds working together to accomplish a task like that." Just imagine pooling the resources of hundreds of players to build (and presumably then fly) a massive starship... and I have to put in a little plug here and point out that the dynamic load balancing of the BigWorld server helps make that possible :)

"We originally wanted to do photo-realistic, but [in testing] we've discovered we need to back off of photo realistic by a notch or two," Joe said in the same event, which shows you just how far they are planning on pushing MMO graphics and from the look of their concept art -- there's some at http://www.cheyenneme.com/products/concept.php -- I'm really looking forward to seeing what they produce for the game!

Regards,

Robert

I'm personally really looking forward to seeing a BigWorld-based game released. In the Commercial non-game world, middleware/back-end software lives and dies by it's reference sites and I can't help but think that's the one thing Bigworld is missing. A deal like this is good news, especially with so many competitors (ie: multiverse) nipping at their heels...

My honest best wishes and good luck - I look forward to you hitting gold.
